Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed the recommendation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) transition committee to publicly declare his assets immediately he assumes office, Premium Times reports. 

The committee led by Ahmed Joda recommended that the President Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo immediately declare their assets publicly after assumption of office.

Appeal Court Orders Workers Reinstatement

Some sacked workers of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, seem to have gotten redress, as an Appeal Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State Capital has upheld the judgement of the Industrial Court which reinstated 15 out of 32 axed.

It is recalled that the workers were relieved of their job in January 2013, on what the management of the institution called reconstruction of the polytechnic.
But dissatisfied with the decision, the embattled workers consisting of 22 non-teaching and 10 teaching staff, approached the industrial court to seek redress, through their lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana SAN.

Brazilian lawmakers narrowly rejected a proposed constitutional change early Wednesday that would have reduced the age of criminal responsibility from 18 to 16 years of age.
The Chamber of Deputies was five votes short of passing the proposal to the Senate: 303 lawmakers voted for the reduction of the 308 required, while 184 legislators were in opposition.

Nigeria:President Muhammadu Buhari Promises To Introduce Reforms In Oil And Gas Sector

Aiming to boost the nation’s income from the sector, President Muhammadu Buhari said that his administration would undertake appropriate reforms and implement fresh policies in the oil and gas production.
This Day reports that the president made statements at separate meetings with delegations from Exxon- Mobil and the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG).
According to Buhari, one of the reforms that will be undertaken by his administration is removal of bureaucratic bottlenecks created by multiple government agencies that impede the operations of companies in the oil and gas sector.

Protests Rock Ekwulobia Over Relocation Of BH Prisoners

 

       Reported relocation of Boko Haram prisoners to the federal prison in Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area of Anambra state, sparked a news wave of protests in the area.

This Day reports that the protesters included traditional rulers, the clergy, traders, women and youths. They took to the streets of Ekwulobia and marched peacefully to the Aguata council headquarters, then to the adjoining Oko community.
