THE Thursday order of the Federal High Court, Kano remanding the immediate past governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido and his two sons in the Kano central prison has turned the jailhouse into a tourist centre of sort.
Scores of politicians, friends, associates and relations of the governor have been thronging the prison to sympathise with Lamido and his sons –Aminu and Mustapha – since they were moved there.
The trio and one Wada Abubakar were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 28-count charge of money laundering, abuse of public trust and bribery by contractors amounting to N1.351 billion.

IN the last 12 months, Nigerians were blessed with about four million babies. Within the next 20 years, about three million of these babies would have survived infant mortality, malaria and other preventable diseases to become adults, willing and able to join the workforce.

Nigeria:LMC drags 3 referees before NFF for poor performance.The nation

The League Management Company (LMC) says it has reported the referees in last Wednesday’s fixture between Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Warri Wolves to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that LMC had, in a statement, said it had reported the three officials to the NFF Referees’ Committee.
“They were reported to NFF for their role in the conduct of the rescheduled Match Day 7 fixture, a role which has been considered inimical to the good of the league,’’ it said.
The statement said referee Francis Agbaegbu from Niger State Referees’ Council and the two others were asked to explain their performance in the match.

Anxiety over the availability of petroleum products has heightened in some states in the southern part of the country as members of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) commence indefinite solidarity strike.
NUPENG members from Warri, Lagos and Port Harcourt zones agreed at a rally in Warri, Delta State yesterday to commence a solidarity strike in protest against alleged infringements on the rights of their members working for Chevron, an oil company in Warri, Delta State.
Addressing members of the union drawn from Chevron and other oil servicing companies, the Chairman of the Warri Zone of NUPENG, Comrade Cogent Ojobor, said the solidarity strike would last until the oil giant addresses all alleged injustices.

A female suicide bomber this morning detonated a bomb in front of the Borno Express Terminal which is very close to the Department of State Security office in Maiduguri the Borno state capital. Number of casualty is yet to be ascertained.
