Akwa Ibom state government has warned residents of the state to desist from eating cow skin popularly known as Ponmo as research has shown that the consumption of the cow skin has led to the increase in cancer and liver problems in the state.
At a press conference in Uyo yesterday April 26th, the state Commissioner for Agriculture & Natural Resources, Mr. Godwin Afangideh, represented by Director of Veterinary Services in the state, Dr. Obot Obot said the high quantity of salt used for the preservation of the cow skin has been traced to have adverse effect on the liver of the consumers and also increases the risk of having cancer

Court Freezes Former Federal Lawmaker’s Bank Accounts

Justice Yunusa Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Lagos, capital of Lagos State, has ordered eleven Nigerian banks to freeze the accounts of a former female member of the House of Representatives, Doris Uboh-Ogunkoya. The court order arose from a lawsuit filed against Ms. Uboh-Ogunkoya by Sterling Bank Plc, alleging that she and her company had defaulted on a substantial loan. The lawsuit, which was filed by Dada Awosika on behalf of Sterling Bank, also lists the former legislator’s company, Dagasteel International Limited, as co-defendant. Doris Uboh-Ogunkoya
Ms. Uboh-Ogunkoya was a House of Reps member from 2007 to 2011. She also ran unsuccessfully as a senatorial candidate of the Labor Party in the March 28, 2015 elections.

Woman seals her baby in a plastic bag, and hides it in a drawer

A 25-year-old Michigan woman Kim Pappas was charged with homicide after giving birth to a son in a bathroom stall at work. Kim didn't tell anyone she was pregnant. On Thursday last week, she went into labour while at work, went to the bathroom, had her baby, a boy, cut the umbilical cord with cuticle scissors, sealed the baby in a plastic bag, returned to her desk and hid her baby in a drawer, officials said during a court appearance on Friday.

Mama Taraba Challenges Guber Polls


Barely hours after INEC Returning Officer for Taraba governorship election, Kyari Mohammed, declared Darius Ishaku of the PDP as the winner of the guber poll, reports just coming in inform that the candidate of the APC, Aisha Alhassan, has rejected the results of the poll.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Mrs Alhassan, popularly called ‘Mama Taraba’, while addressing a press conference in Jalingo shortly after the announcement of the results, described the entire elections process as “daylight robbery.”
The report stated that Mrs Alhassan opined that the APC would challenge the results in the elections petitions tribunal.
