President, Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed the recommendation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) transition committee

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed the recommendation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) transition committee to publicly declare his assets immediately he assumes office, Premium Times reports.
How Buhari Shunned Joda's Committe's Recommendation
The committee led by Ahmed Joda recommended that the President Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo immediately declare their assets publicly after assumption of office.

The Ahmed Joda-led committee also recommended prompt prosecution of pending cases and the publication of the audited financial statements of the Federal Government.
However after one month in office Buhari and his vice have not made his assets public.

Buhari’s refusal to disclose the report of his asset declaration is a clear contradiction of the promise of his party. During Buhari’s campaign across the country, APC had assured Nigerians that the president would publicly declare his assets when he resumes office.
Two days after he was sworn in, a human rights group Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), called on Buhari and Osinbajo to make public the details of their assets. Adding that the public declaration of their assets would be consistent with their anti-corruption credentials.
The request was made immediately after the two leaders declared their assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by the Constitution.
In reaction to the request, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, on Saturday  June 6, assured the people that Buhari would make public his assets.

He noted that the completed forms by both the president and vice president were submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau on March 28th, a day before their inauguration.
The transition committee however believed it was more ideal for the president to publicly declare his asset immediately he assumed office, an advice the president ignored.
In a related development, the Ahmed Joda led transition committee in its recommendation report also urged President Buhari to merge all owing airlines in the country into a national carrier.
