The controversy has been surrounding the current placement of Marilyn Ogar, demoted media official of the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to The Cable, Ogar, who was until recently DSS deputy director for public relations, was transferred to Maiduguri, Borno state. The posting was, however, said to be put on hold, following insinuations that it was “punitive”.

It is believed that the media official of Nigeria’s secret police is being punished for some of her pronouncements, notably in the face-off with the BBOG movement and the DSS raids on the Lagos APC office last year.
A source from the DSS disclosed:
“Right now, she is just hanging around in Abuja awaiting the next order.”
Sahara Reporters, however, dismissed information referring to its source:
Nigeria’s secret police source says Marilyn Ogar,
a former spokesperson for the agency was never posted to Maiduguri but
she remains demoted

Ogar’s demotion last
week, following her promotion in March under Goodluck Jonathan’s
administration, is considered by many to be a politically motivated
exercise. Sources are saying that the official might even quit over
“injustices going on in the organization”.
