The Punch reports that Aderemi, who is a member of the Society for Corporate Governance of Nigeria, expressed his opinion on June 22, Monday, at Sango in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun state.

The civil rights activist stressed in his statement that the Osun state workers were not beggars and should not be treated as such. He wondered how far the N250,000 promised by the senator would go in solving the huge salary debts.
Describing the money promised by the senator as taxpayers’ money that he did not work for, Aderemi called on Murray-Bruce to give substantial money to the embattled workers from his personal business.

“Senator Ben Murray-Bruce is playing politics with the plight of the Osun state workers. The half of his wardrobe allowance that he promised to give to the people is the people’s money because he has not done anything to earn that money.
“The workers deserve the salaries because they worked hard for the money. If he wants to sincerely give to the people, let him take substantial fund from the proceeds of his business,” he said.
Aderemi also urged Murray-Bruce to intervene in the situations of workers in all states owing salaries, by working out together with other lawmakers a lasting solution to the problem.
He activist advised all state governments, especially those affected by the ongoing cash-crunch, to consider venturing into businesses. According to him, it can generate funds with which state governments can improve their financial situation.

“All states spend over 67% of their allocation on salaries and one would wonder how developmental projects could be done in the states.
“They should embark on viable ventures that would sustain them even before allocations from the Federation Account arrive,” he suggested.
Finishing his statement, Aderemi called on the All Progressives Congress-led government to look into ways of collaborating with the other two layers of government to ensure development at these levels.
Recently, Murray-Bruce, who is known for his controvercial statements, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a minister for common sense. He also called on Buhari to take a cue from President Joyce Banda of Malawi in a move to resuscitate the country’s dwindling economy.
