Ali Ndume as the majority leader of the Senate, despite a party
directive prescribing the role for Ahmed Lawan.
Premium Times adds that Bala Ibn Na’alla, a former House of Representatives member, was nominated as deputy leader, while Francis Alimikhena was nominated for deputy chief whip.

Yesterday the Senate conflict escalated when Lawan lost to Ndume in a mock election organized by the APC, although the party’s preferred candidate, who had previously failed to become the Senate president, was Lawan.
The crisis over leadership is also ongoing in the House of Representatives, where some lawmakers on Thursday practically engaged in a physical fight trying to take away the mace of the House.
