Colonel Iluyomade Says Whether Buhari Can Be A Dictator
A civil war veteran, Colonel Oyinlade Iluyomade, has
stated that Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari will not be able
to rule as a dictator when he assumes power on May 29, 2015.
According to Col. Iluyomade, the parameters of democracy achieved so far in Nigeria simply won’t let the former Head of State to rule in a dictatorial manner.
While expressing his opinion on Buahri’s incoming administration, Col. Oyinlade stated that the situation in Nigeria has changed and become more civilized.
He added that democracy has become a norm in Nigeria and Buahri as a civilian leader, wouldn’t step from it.
Iluyomade opined that to unite the nation upon taking the office on May 29, Buhari must introduce discipline and zero-tolerance policy on corruption from members of his cabinet.
He also expressed confidence that Buhari is able to provide dynamic leadership that will bring Nigeria to prosperity.
“Why can’t we get things right in this country, if not lack of imagination by some leaders? Rather than better the country, they assume office to enrich themselves,” he told, concluding that “I have confidence that Buhari will deliver on his promises to Nigerians. He is a fellow military man and I know him so well. We worked together in Marine Commando.”
Muhammadu Buhari became in charge of Nigeria for the first time in 1983, after overthrowing the government of Shehu Shagari.
His rule ended on 1985 in a coup led by his close ally General Ibrahim Babangida. It later turned out that Buhari knew about this coup, but didn’t do anything to stop it.
Buhari also named himself recently a converted democrat.
