APC, PDP Clash Over Mimiko’s Defection

The Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in Ondo state are currently in disagreement following rumours of a planned defection of Governor Olusegun Mimiko and his supporters to the APC.
The APC, in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Omo’oba Adesanya, vowed not to allow Mimiko to infect the party with the same crisis rocking the PDP in the state, but the PDP had denied any defection plan by members of the party.
Adesanya alleged that Mimiko had been reaching out to some leaders of the APC but he had been told he would not be allowed to join the APC.
“Mimiko, who brought political Ebola into the PDP in the state, will not be allowed to infect the APC in the state.
“Although, it is confirmed that Dr. Mimiko has been reaching out to some of our party leaders, it has however been made clear to him that he cannot be accepted into the APC,” Adesanya said.

But the publicity secretary of the PDP, Banji Okunomo, in a counter-statement on Wednesday, said the rumour that the PDP members were planning to defect to the APC was unfounded and mere propaganda.
